a beautifully intricate rug by "floor to heaven" in germany ... (i think i'll add a little area rug to my room)

laser engraved wood veneer invitations by oslo press. i just freakin flip over anything laser-cut and these happen to be super pretty. maybe i can order them for like a housewarming party or something. because, you know, that's probably more likely to happen sooner than having a some silly party with cake and a pretty white dress.

a felt doily (by donna wilson) that i just had to have (found at eden & eden), even though i had no idea what i needed it for.

super cute cards by bumble ink ... this is one of their "i'm sorry" cards that says "i suck" on the inside.

still waiting for those dumb miu miu shoes to hit saks. won't it be so sad if they don't have my size or if they're (even worse) uncomfortable? yea, it'll be pretty sad.

i asked like two different sales associates and neither knew the arrival date. i'd so pre-order this one if only the ruffly part were detachable. is it? doubtful.

sorry, it's not likely i'll stop obsessing until i get them. actually, i was in the general vicinity of saks this weekend, but figured i didn't need to make a stop lest i be disappointed yet again by another clueless SA. bah!

everything's coming up "acorns"

fall/winter collections are always so much nicer than the spring/summer collections. well, at least i think so. sure, girls like summer because they get to dress all cute and pretty. but fall is when you get to wear the more tailored clothing with more substantial, richer fabrics. love it!

and fall items have been trickling in recently. a couple weeks ago, the first coats hit the floors. saw this dvf coat that i tried on in both black and ivory. i would have bought one in each color but then i saw that it was prominently displayed at neiman, saks and bloomingdales so you'll probably see this coat all over the place. well, not exactly all over the place since it's $695, but you'll see it around.

and besides, i'm in the market for a charcoal gray coat. i've got enough black and ivory ones. no need for more, although it is rather cute.

and oh(!) the anticipation for miu miu's fall shoe collection continues. i saw this lone shoe sitting among the prada collection and freaked out!! i flagged down a sales associate to see where the rest of the collection could be found. he said that this flat was the first and only miu miu shoe in so far.

you can be sure i'll be checking every day for the pumps to come in. i think i'll skip wearing the socks with them though.

and oh oh oh. ferro items at bv are being snatched up as quickly as they're getting into the store. i'm so all over that too.

little miss muffet's tuffet

another element of my room! in addition to a huge floor mirror (i've decided to get something that actually exists and is readily available, yet still somewhat similar: from west elm), i think i'll get a custom barcelona stool.

i was thinking all last night whether to get a matching chair made as well, but the chair would set me way past the budget i've set. but then if i decide to get the chair in the future (which i likely will), then i'm running the chance of the two pieces not matching. what to do?!

man, oh man. i'm so excited to put this room together. although the pièce de résistance is something i have yet to mention and i'm pretty sure it's more than double my entire budget. so i'll have to think of a way around it. hmm, maybe up my budget?

and oh, as for the mirror, i thought about getting the west elm mirror and applying zebrawood veneer to it and framing it with chrome molding. but i looked up the veneer and i haven't been able to find the right length or grain. and plus, zebrawood apparently stinks like nasty when working with it. so, yea, i dropped that idea. and then i thought of doing a faux paint treatment to mimic the grain of zebrawood, but knowing my history, i'd probably mess it up. so a plain mirror it is!

gonna dress you up in my love

super cute dresses at net-a-porter but i don't feel like ordering online since dresses tend to fit me funny anyway. i'd definitely try them on in person though, if i come across them.

whoa! west elm has grown up! their bedding lineup for fall totally reminds me of the likes of dwell and amenity. very nice.

mirror, mirror, on the floor

so i decided that instead of waiting to decorate/design my room until i move out, i'm going to start now and hopefully be able to transfer it to my next place.

first item of business, i really really want a zebrawood floor mirror. williams sonoma home has a 32" x 42" wall mirror in zebrawood for $395 but it's much too small.

they also have a 38" x 84" floor mirror in the same family, but it doesn't come in zebrawood. maybe i can special order it, but then again it is a whopping $1,095.

i don't know why i'm bothering to ask, but does anyone know where i can find a similar floor mirror in zebrawood, preferably but not necessarily a little less expensive?

so sad. dionne/wholahay/brown is off! i'm just as upset as she was when tyra pulled out natasha's photo instead of hers. loved it when she gave natasha the cold shoulder when she tried to give her a "sorry hug." (fourfour update cheered me up a little though)

she was totally my favorite and now we're left with renee, natasha and jaslene. boring! i don't even care which of them wins. i'm guessing it's jaslene though.

i feel pretty and witty and gay

people's off the rack wrote a blurb about cameron diaz going back to blonde. hello? what about her adorable dress at the premiere of shrek 3? it's a great example of the watermelon color i mentioned as one of my favorite spring details. other people might call it coral or salmon or pomegranate or guava or hibiscus. i like watermelon though because everyone knows what color watermelon is, and it's more on the reddish/pinkish side rather than the orange-y side.

"sources" say the dress is chanel, meaning it's not exactly an option for a regular weekend dress, but it is totally cute.

you know melamine? the kind of hard resin plates that are a much better option for those of us that find "unbreakable" corelle plates aren't as unbreakable as they claim? well, they're usually available only in solid colors or kiddie patterns. but i came across these and they're so pretty! and so grown up. i think i might pick up a set. designed by bongenre.com, available in the bay area at nest and a bunch of other places.

i had so much stuff going on yesterday and then earlier this morning i thought to myself, oh my gosh it's tuesday, i totally forgot about checking fourfour! but weird thing, the recap wasn't even posted until today. so yay!

oh that dionne, she never fails to crack me up.

jackson square extension

there are a couple fairly new (within the past year or two) stores on the very outer fringe of jackson square. and they're really cute. i'm not talking about glamour closet because everyone already knows about that place. actually, i remember walking by that store maybe a week right before daily candy wrote about them. yea, that made me feel special for a whole second.

anyway, i'm talking about area and eden & eden. yea, i'm sure tons of people know about these two shops too, but they're still worth mentioning. they're only a block or so away from dwr and about the same from kartell.

area is a very stylish home and garden store. i think the owner has been there (with a smile and warm greeting) every single time i've walked into the shop. which is pretty cool, especially if you want to ask about any particular piece (i hear he hand picks each item in the store). i'd call the place a high end restoration hardware. but "high end" as in high style, because the prices aren't totally ridiculous. here are a couple items that stood out to me. i guess i was in a white/gray mood.

a few tabletop items. i really liked these geometric laser-cut placemats.

and the story behind these intricate frames is that the artist supposedly found an old frame in his brother's attic and liked it so much that he casted a mold out of it.

just two doors down is eden & eden. i could have taken dozens of pictures in here because everything was just so pretty and unique. but i felt kind of awkward since i was only one of three or so patrons in there. anyway, they have home accessories, clothing from ivana helsinki (a finnish designer), paper goods, jewelry and just a bunch of cool stuff. so i'd call the place an indie anthropologie but on the fresher side (as opposed to shabby chic).

you can see part of a plate on the upper edge of the photo. there were a bunch of these neat plates with line drawings of architecture. much cooler in person.

you can definitely spend a whole sunny afternoon in this area, visiting eden & eden, area, dwr, kartell and all the art galleries and antique shops in between (provided that they're open). and maybe grabbing a lunch at the ferry building. yea, sounds like a total hipster day.

hello miss lapin

so i spent yesterday reading up on, well, what everyone else was reading.

i also spent some time sifting through tons of blogs and added a few new good ones to the links sidebar (only like 10% of what i actually looked). and i wanted to post a hilarious picture from one of them, but i can't seem to track it down now. i even did a quick click and scroll through my history, but can't locate it. oh well, it's an old joke now anyway (a drawing of an LV purse in the shape of madonna's malawi baby, captioned as "hollywood's hot new accessory")

anyway, as i was scrolling through absolutely beautiful things, i came across fifi lapin! i can't believe i missed her yesterday! so glad i revisted the site.

she's the cutest and most clever bunny ever! the artist even does private commissions at no extra cost, so now all i have to do is figure out my favorite outfit!! oh, and she has a stalker too. too funny!

dionne continues to crack me up. natasha too but not as much.

so this is kind of a repeat from monday. but i am so all over these shoes by miu miu. and i'm totally surprised because i've never liked miu miu before.

oh man, they better have them in my size. and i mean they better! oh, and they better be comfortable. seriously, not even kidding.

fresh fresh exciting

jt wanted to grab some sugar lychee parfum from fresh, but we decided it smelled a little too syrupy. like the syrup that canned lychees sit in. just too sweet.

so she started to test all the bottles sitting along the back testing station. and the winner was ... pear cassis! too bad it's discontinued (she actually snagged the last bottle). but 100mL should last a while.

anyway, while she was testing scents, i decided to walk around a bit and smell the soaps. verbena and vanilla smelled pleasant, as expected. patchouli was sitting among the bunch. ick but i smelled it anyway, and ick. and then there was hesperides.

what an odd name. hesperides. and the wrapping was a dark teal. not very appealing on the surface but i gave it a big whiff and wow! nicely fresh and pleasant. a mix of lemon, orange and grapefruit top notes; bergamot, lotus flower and jasmine middle notes; and rhubarb, musk and peach at the base. too bad they don't make it in candle form.

it's now right up there with my penhaligon's and diptyque favorites. which are rather similar, unsurprisingly.

diptyque's oyedo is described as "citrus fruits and thyme on a ground of woody scents," while penhaligon's quercus is layered with cardamom, galbanum, lime, bergamot, lemon and mandarin on top; jasmine and muguet in the middle; and sandalwood, treemoss and musk as the base notes.

wholahay!

wholahay/brown/dionne's stock is definitely going up. and brit(tany)'s is taking a serious hit.
